- Pick a recent reply of yours from the list, open the original post it replies to (still logged out or from another account).
- Is your reply shown normally — or is it collapsed behind "Show more replies" / "Show additional replies, including those that may contain offensive content", or missing entirely?

The three real visibility limits on X
1. Search suggestion ban
The mildest limit. Your account stops appearing in the search typeahead and People suggestions for users who don't follow you (especially logged-out visitors). Your posts are still searchable. One honest caveat: brand-new and very small accounts often don't rank in suggestions anyway, so treat this check as a signal only when an account that used to appear suddenly doesn't.
2. Search ban
More serious: your posts are filtered out of search results entirely, including the
Latest tab, even when someone searches from:yourhandle directly. People who
follow you still see you in their timelines, but search discovery is off.
3. Reply deboosting (ghost ban)
Your replies get collapsed behind "Show more replies" or hidden behind the offensive-content barrier for everyone but you. You'll notice engagement on replies falling to near zero while your own view of the conversation looks perfectly normal — which is exactly why you must check from a logged-out session.
Why "automatic shadowban checkers" stopped working
For years, sites could test any handle automatically by querying Twitter's free API and unauthenticated search endpoints. That ended with the 2023 API lockdown: free access was removed, logged-out browsing and search were heavily restricted, and paid API tiers price out hobby checker sites. The well-known checkers either shut down or now return stale or outright wrong answers. That's why this page is a guided test — the only reliable data source left is what X actually shows a real, logged-out browser session, and only you can look at that.
If you find a limit
- Stop the trigger behavior: automation bursts, mass-follow/unfollow, duplicate posts, repetitive links or hashtag stuffing, and rapid-fire replies are the usual suspects.
- Wait it out: most limits lift on their own within days to a few weeks once behavior normalizes. Keep posting like a human in the meantime.
- Verify and appeal: confirm your email and phone number, then contact the X Help Center if visibility hasn't recovered after a few weeks.
- Re-test periodically with this page — results are a snapshot, not a permanent status.
